2008 Fantasy Football SleepersThe best EDGE you can have on draft day is the right fantasy football sleepers list! Click HERE to get your membership! We'll give you a taste of our 2009 Fantasy Football Sleepers - COMING SOON! Here's what our members had from us for 2008 Fantasy Football Sleepers and more! Potential hidden gems on draft day - when these guys slip and are available in later rounds - grab them! 2008 Sleepers and More! Matt Forte, RB, Chicago - He has every shot to be the #1 RB for the Bears and although he's got to prove it in pre-season this rookie is poised to be the every down back in Chicago. The problem here is that the Bears offense will offer little threat through the air allowing teams to key on the ground game. Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Pittsburgh - The Steelers will want a bigger back to carry the ball around the goal line. Look for Mendenhall to get plenty of goal line opportunities and although the yards may not pile up as Willie Parker still gets plenty of work but in TD heavy league Mendenhall is a solid sleeper choice - so much so he's barely a sleeper anymore. Lendale White, RB, Tennessee - Seems too many people have given up on this guy then last year he goes for over 1100 yards and 7 TDs and that was with torn cartilage in his new. Not healthy look for even better numbers from this workhorse back. Brett Favre, QB, Green Bay - We're a little late with this one now (back in Packers camp 8-4-08) but from the day he announced we thought there was a chance Favre would not stay away. Not in an "open competition" for the Packers starting QB position the term "sleeper" no longer applies but Favre is a guy that may still have some value early in pre-season until he gets his strong hold on the job that seems inevitable. UPDATE 8-6-08 - Favre traded to the Jets! Favre the likely starter now so certainly no sleeper but Favre is back. Jonathan Stewart, RB, Carolina - It would appear Stewart has an excellent chance to see significant carries. Watch him during the pre-season to see if grabs the opportunity and if you have an early draft you might get a steal here. Adrian Peterson, RB, Chicago - Yes, the other Adrian Peterson. He's had some chances and hasn't emerged yet so a pro bowl year not likely but as high as we are (and many others) on Forte there will be a lot of carries to go around for the Bears and Forte is a rookie. Ricky Williams, RB, Miami -This is likely his last chance to revive his career and as Brown continues to be slow in coming back from injury Williams may start the season as the number 1 guy and he could seize that chance making it tough for Brown to get back on the field. Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee - LenDale White seems poised to take a step up and be a star in this league (see above) but Johnson is imporessive and with White's history of injuries Johnson may emerge before this season is over. Ray Rice, RB, Baltimore - Although he's been a bit inconsistent in camp when's he's at his best he's been very impressive. Add an injury to McGahee and Rice gets a bigger chance to get the # 1 job. Donovan McNabb, QB, Philadelphia - Make no mistake that the injury concerns that come with McNabb are a huge factor. But McNabb will likely not be an Eagle next season and he has something to prove to the city of Philly. IF and again, a big IF McNabb stays healthy look for a very strong year for McNabb auditioning for his chance somewhere else next season. Marshawn Lynch, RB, Buffalo - Maybe your first thought is how can a top 10 guy be a sleeper? Catch his he's not a top 10 for a lot of experts he see. We disagree. The Bills have some threat of a passing game so eight in the box ALL the time not an option so look for Lynch to put up top RB numbers this season. Earnest Graham, RB, Tampa Bay - He looks like THE guy for Tampa Bay and if Garcia can stay healthy the Bucs have a balanced attack. In November last season Graham averaged over 100 yards per game! Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland - If you haven't already noticed you will soon notice that McFadden is also no our warnings list....how can that be??? Simple, McFadden is an outstanding talent. Our warnings have little to do with his ability or potential. If you can get him without drafting him too soon then do it! But as we say below, he's going too high for our tastes in most drafts. This could certainly change during the pre-season but we see him a valuable pick in the 4th round. Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta - Tough to be excited about any player on the Falcons and it's very rare for a rookie QB to be a great fantasy producer but Ryan does look like he may win the starting job in Atlanta. So if you have a deep bench or are in a keeper league this guy is worth a look in the late rounds. Steve Slaton, RB, Houston - Nobody theoretically ahead of Slaton in Houston seems to want this job and it could be that Slaton is the best option they have and he could see plenty of time of the field this season. Look for him in later rounds. Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans - Plenty of talent in front of him, yes. BUT....it seems that the Saints don't really believe or use Bush as a true RB and Duece McAllister is a health risk. That leaves Stecker and he's well past his prime. Another potential gem to look at late.
Warnings Players with big pre-season games! Guys on "your" team! Browns Offense - Cleveland put up some amazing numbers last season behind Derek Anderson's amazing year. Although a repeat performance is not entirely out of the question it is a bit unlikely. We'd rather see these guys prove it by backing it up this season with some at least good numbers. Don't pull the trigger too early on anyone from the Browns offense. 49ers Offense - The more we hear from the San Fran camp the more we worry about having ANY Niner on our roster. Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland - Hype is very high on McFadden and perhaps rightly so - he's an amazing talent. After Adrian Peterson's phenomal rookie season last year hype is even higher. But the Vikings had a much better offensive line than the Raiders do for McFadden. We like McFadden and pre-draft had him pegged as a sleeper but in our mock drafts he continues to go higher than warranted. If McFadden can be your 3rd back grab him but he's going too early in most drafts early in the pre-season. Broncos Running Backs - This is not new news but it is again prevelant. Watch out for the Denver RB situation. It again appears there is no clear cut #1 RB and not only will we wonder all pre-season long you may again be forced to wonder late each and every week which back will go Denver if you have a Bronco RB on your team. Michael Turner, RB, Atlanta - Turner out of San Diego and is now THE guy for the Falcons. You may see Turner on a lot of sleeper lists but we disagree. Turner had the benefit of a great offensive line and worn down defenses when he put in nice performances in San Diego. The Falcons offensive line isn't close and with few other weapons defenses can key to stop the run game. We don't recommend taking Turner unless he's there very late as your 1st or 2nd reserve back, let someone else take that chance. Willie Parker, RB, Pittsburgh - All you really need to draw this conclusion is the Steelers draft pick of Mendenhall. If the Steelers are concerned about his workload - shouldn't we be? We are. He gets a bump in leagues that reward yards but we don't see him being a # 1 goal line option consistently. Frank Gore, SF, San Francisco - It's going to be very tough for Frank Gore this season. The 49ers offer little to no other threats on offense. He is one of the most talent guys in the league but he will have trouble having a huge year in San Fran this year. Justin Fargas, RB, Oakland - Fargas finished last season very strong and got a big contract. The new contract is a cause for concern - does he still have the desire to push himself and more importantly Darren McFadden may quickly be putting up numbers to take the #1 spot. At the very least will share carries. Fargas still a decent guy to have on your team - just don't take him too early. Jon Kitna, QB, Detroit - Not this guy was ever too high on anybody's list Martz is out of Detroit and it was the pass happy offense that contributed to his big passing years. Expect a fall off from Kitna this season. Fred Taylor, RB, Jacksonville - What are the odds the OFTEN injured Taylor can have another fully healthy season? Not great. We'd love to be wrong at Taylor is a solid performer when in the game at full strength but he's always risky - don't let one great season of health fool you. He's a nice 3rd back, nothing more. To get ALL our sleepers and warnings get any membership! Here's some of what we had in 2007... Randy Moss, WR, New England Patriots - Yes, the Randy Moss, the same guy who has literally disappeared off Fantasy owners starting lineups the last few years. With another chance in NE, he will once again produce respectable stats. We actually undersold Moss he had an amazing season. Marshawn Lynch, RB, Buffalo Bills - The sleeper Rookie RB. In smaller leagues, a great 3rd RB or in larger leagues, a solid 2nd. Already projected as the guy in Buffalo, he has all the talent to rush for big yards in his first NFL campaingn. Lynch produced very good numbers. Brandon Jacobs, RB, NY Giants - He may not be too far from being the Jacoby Jones, WR, Houston Texans - Jones is performing much better than previously announced starter Kevin Walter and although the #2 WR spot for Houston is hardly a big fantasy producing spot, Jones could be overlooked by many on draft day. Brandon Marshall, WR, Denver Broncos and Ruvell Martin, WR, Green Bay
A few other guys that really can't be called sleepers as they'll be very high picks and certainly not surprises but these guys could be even better than expected. WARNING LIST - These are guys we have some concerns about in 2007, they may be hard to pass on but you may be thanking us by mid-season.
A quick look at 2006 Sleepers.... Laurence Maroney, RB New England - As a rookie we had Maroney as solid RB option. He averaged over 4 yards per game. Philip Rivers, QB San Diego - While many thought the QB move was a mistake we knew that Rivers had too many weapons around him to not be successful and he put up a very strong year. Steve McNair, QB Baltimore Ravens - We were quick to let our readers know the we thought McNair we benefit greatly from his new environment with a solid D and balanced offensive attack. We were right.
